More information about 100pct. Organic Kalamon olives
The Kalamon olives from 100pct. come from the organic groves of Nikos Maroulakos around the village of Agios Nikolaos, Monemvasia in the south of the Peloponnese peninsula, Greece.
They come from certified organic cultivation, from olive trees, some of which are very old, that Nikos Maroulakos has been cultivating for four generations.
Our Kalamon olives are harvested by hand, sorted and preserved using only natural ingredients. This preserves the characteristic hearty taste of this olive variety.
Kalamon olives are a tasty accompaniment to many dishes and are also excellent with fish or simply on their own as an aperitif.
Incidentally, the term "Kalamon" is correct for this type of olive - these olives were given the name Kalamata olives because in history the city of Kalamata, in the south of the Peloponnese, was a port and trading town and all products, olives as well as olive oil, nuts or other trade goods were labeled with the "brand name" of the city and thus gained their fame. The accurate name for this type of olive is kalamon.
