More information about Alto Rouge 2021

The Alto Rouge flows into the glass in a bright, dark garnet red and impresses the connoisseur from the very first moment. A wonderful bouquet of juicy cherries unfolds and harmonizes wonderfully with the aromas of fynbos. The cuvée made from the five grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (42%), Shiraz (31%), Cabernet Franc (20%), Merlot (5%) and Petit Verdot (2%) is very harmonious and unforgettable in taste. Dark fruit notes such as plums and blueberries dominate the palate and are accompanied by a hint of pine needles. The red wine is silky on the palate and the good tannin structure gives it a long-lasting finish, with the great flavors lingering on the tongue for a while even after the last sip. The powerful and complex Alto Rouge should definitely be tried on its own, but is also highly recommended with chicken dishes, grilled beef or creamy pasta.

ALTO Wine Estate

Alto is a farm with a rich history that lives up to its status as one of the most iconic wineries in the Western Cape Winelands. The first title deeds date back to 1693, but it was not until 1919 that the farm was fully dedicated to viticulture. Alto stretches along the steep northern slopes of the Helderberg and for nearly a century has built a reputation as one of the most respected red wine producers in South Africa.
