Some have already proven that cucumber and beer are a dream team: Braumanufaktur Hertl with its Gurken-Gose, for example, or Steamworks with its Killer Cucumber Ale. Now BRLO has come up with another cucumber beer that combines the delicate freshness of green vegetables with the hoppy tartness of beer.
Cucumber Quench is a thirst-quenching lager that is based on both Mexican and Vienna lager. Strange combination? Not at all! The malty character of the Vienna lager meets the refreshing lightness of the Mexican lager.
The brewing process is completed by storing the finished beer on a cucumber puree. This step enhances the beer with the unmistakable notes of fine cucumbers and gives Cucumber Quench an additional freshness kick.
The cucumber-flavored brew gleams in sunny gold, with a fleeting veil of white foam rounding off the visual impression. On the nose, this unusual lager presents itself with subtly balanced notes of soft malt, juicy cucumber and lemony hops.
This first impression is continued in the taste: the slender body builds up with delicate malt notes and then plays out tangy citrus notes and a feather-light cucumber aroma that goes wonderfully with the mild bitterness. The finish is crisply bitter and makes you want another glass of beer with a cucumber touch.
