More information about 2019 Cousino-Macul Cabernet Sauvignon Antiguas Reservas
Wines from the "Antiguas Reservas" series have been produced at Cousiño-Macul since 1927 and represent a limited selection of the estate's best Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. With a great sense of tradition, the Cousiño family produces this Cabernet Sauvignon, which is matured for 12 months in French oak and has an intense ruby red color.
This exceptional red wine impresses above all with its perfect balance of fruit and wood without any distracting rough edges. Aromas of prunes, blackberries and blackcurrants flow from the glass as well as delicate notes of coffee and herbs. A great wine with an exceptionally long finish. The Antiguas Reservas is without question one of the cult wines of the Maipo Valley!
The Cousiño-Macul winery is without doubt one of the most prestigious names in Chilean viticulture. Founded in 1856, it is still run by the Cousiño family. This makes it the oldest winery in Chile that is still owned by the founding family. The cellar in Macul, which was built during the founding period, is one of the most impressive wine cellars in the world: at a depth of 7 meters, the ancient limestone walls guarantee a constant temperature of 14 °C and a humidity of 75% - almost perfect conditions for the wines to mature. In the meantime, the winery has been expanded to include two further locations: not far from the Pacific Ocean, the fresh, fruity wines are produced in Alhué, while the elegant, long-lasting wines are produced in Buin (Alto-Maipo).
