More information about Fairview Winemaker's Selection Homtini 2019
The Fairview Winemaker's Selection Homtini shines a dark red in the glass. The inviting bouquet unfolds wonderful aromas of red berries and cherries, surrounded by earthy and floral tones. Notes of raspberries and herbs are noticeable on the palate. A fresh acidity and noticeable but fine tannins give the cuvée of Sangiovese (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (10%) and Shiraz (10%) a great mouthfeel. The red wine matured for 24 months in French and American oak and is a wonderful accompaniment to food - whether Italian cuisine, pasta or dark meat: the Fairveiw Winemaker's Selection Homtini is always the right choice. Incidentally, the name is a tribute to the Italian ancestors of winemaker Anthony de Jager, who came to the Cape as silk farmers and crossed the Homtini Pass. In their new home, the family turned to viticulture.
