Itzehoe burns. For a long time, Itzehoe was able to develop and prosper peacefully and was largely spared from war. However, during the First Northern War, the fortified town is attacked by Swedish troops and set on fire. Almost the entire town fell victim to the fire, only the Gothic cloister of St. Laurentii Church was able to withstand the flames and the gnawing of time to this day. After the fire, Itzehoe was cleaned up and rebuilt. The new town was created in the Störschleife.
This aromatic, slightly spicy herbal schnapps is reminiscent of the great city fire that changed and renewed Itzehoe so drastically. It burns on the palate and the flames make their way down the gullet. De groote Brand goes out in the stomach and makes room for something new.
