The power and meaning of the color black are as contradictory as with hardly any other color. In psychology, black stands on the one hand for threat, disease, fear and death - social aspects that are particularly true in reference to the current pandemic COVID. On the other hand, this dominant color is considered mysterious, seductive and elegant in a positive sense.
So it is no wonder that before tasting the Dark Gin, a feeling of curiosity, but also fear can arise. After all, in the end, "Who's afraid of black...? GIN!!!"
After distillation of the Dark Gin and dilution to drinking strength, chips of licorice are inserted for a few days to enrich the aroma spectrum with filigree licorice notes. The unusual coloration is created by adding just one botanical: activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is a natural and tasteless product, which is used among other things in medicine, but has no influence on the flavor profile of the gin.
Note: If the gin is stored for a longer period of time, the activated charcoal particles will sink to the bottom of the bottle. This has no effect on quality or taste. Simply shake the bottle briefly before consumption and enjoy in the glass...
