More information about J.W. Huesgen Alte Reben Riesling Trocken 2020
The grapes used for the J.W. Huesgen Alte Reben Riesling Trocken make this white wine something very special, as they come from 60-year-old, ungrafted vines. They grow on slate soils in the single vineyard Enkircher Steffensberg and the soil is also responsible for the intense and elegant character of this top Riesling. A colorful blend of light yellow and green makes the wine a feast for the eyes in the glass, while the wonderful, slightly spicy aroma pampers the nose. Aromas of yellow fruit round off the first impression perfectly. On the palate, the J.W. Huesgen Alte Reben Riesling Trocken impresses above all with its opulent structure, which the white wine owes to its ageing in wooden barrels. Incidentally, this magnificent Riesling is reminiscent of Lotte Huesgen, a strong woman who continued the tradition of the winery after the Second World War. In addition, the ungrafted vines in particular make the white wine a Riesling jewel - because ungrafted means that the entire vine, from the root to the grape, comes from the same plant. This is a rarity today, as around 90 percent of vines are not root-bound. You should therefore definitely enjoy the J.W. Huesgen Alte Reben Riesling Trocken on its own. If you would like to serve this white wine with food, it is best paired with cheese or poultry.
