More information about Aoltbeer
Jan Kemker is a traditionalist He is not longing for the good old days, but is thirsty for the brews of the past He satisfies this desire for the splendor of days long gone with his own creations His home town of Münster used to be a vibrant center of diverse beer culture with a whole range of its own specialties Today, there is not much left of this and that is exactly what the ambitious brewer would like to change Together with his partner Nicole, he has made it his goal to revive the historical art of brewing in the region, revive the historic art of brewing in the region Kemker Kultuur brews the fine treasures from Münster's history with great attention to detail and hand-picked raw materials
An absolute crowd favorite in this special range is the so-called Aoltbeer This brew is based on the historical sour beer from Westphalia With the possibilities and limitations of the brewers:In the past, Jan developed a recipe that contains husks and cone hops Instead of practical pellets, the brewer uses the entire untreated flower After the brewing process, the noble beer is filled into red wine barrels and matures for more than a year in aromatic oak wood This step gives the brew wine-like notes and a delicate acidity that complements its character perfectly
Due to the barrel maturation, each new edition of Aoltbeer is unique in its taste We offer the classic version and the one with cherries and blackcurrant
