This strictly limited bottling once again bears the "Hogfather", the anthropomorphic personification of the Apocalyptic Horseman of the Discworld in his part-time job as Santa Claus. As with the two previous batches, this is a Ledaig, a heavily peated single malt from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull.
The whisky was bottled from a sherry hogshead in Scotland in 2020 and was then allowed to mature in Germany, as is customary with La Famiglia Nostra. In this particular case, in another, smaller cask. A 114-liter Demi Fut from the early 80s, in which Pedro Ximénez sherry was previously matured. The result is a heavy, old sherry cask whisky that clearly reveals its island origins.
Peaty on the nose, with red fruits and a strong dose of campfire. On the palate, it has a varied palate with gently integrated smoke and pleasantly present oak, leading to a long, harmonious finish. Perfect for contemplative hours in front of the fireplace, or simply for the meditative silence at the end of Christmas dinner.
