For our Maennerhobby lemon spirit, we looked for the best lemons in the world - and found them in Amalfi in southern Italy. The Sfusato Almafitano variety has proven its worth for centuries thanks to its mild fruitiness and low acidity. For us, it not only ends up in lemon spirit and lemon liqueur, but also in our very first distillate - Kaland Kümmel.
How is Maennerhobby Zitronengeist produced?
During the distillation process, we try to get the best out of the fruit in order to bottle the Italian sun for you. To do this, we macerate the lemons for quite a long time without oxygen in high-quality grain alcohol. In some cases, the macerate is also heated to really tease out the last aromas from the lemons.
After distillation, our Maennerhobby Zitronengeist is first reduced to drinking strength and then cold-filtered again to ensure that the spirit is truly pure and aromatic. All painstakingly done by hand, of course.
