More information about Obsthof Retter Edition Sommelier
In contrast to the common grapevine (Vitis vinifera), the wild grapevine (Vitis sylvestris) is dioecious, i.e. there are male and female plants. It is a subspecies of the well-known grapevine.
Now extremely rare, there are only small populations left in Austria along the Danube and as far as Bulgaria, mainly on the Black Sea coast. Larger populations can still be found in Turkey and in some mountainous regions of Chile. The female plant of the wild grapevine bears edible, small red grapes.
The slightly acidic grapes with the fruity and intense aroma typical of the variety are harvested together for our WILD Grape and then juiced together using our special manufacturing process (model mixed set).
WILD Grape Red
Extremely rare wild variety. Harvested by hand in one of Chile's oldest vineyards at a preferred altitude.
Our tip for enjoyment:1/16 in a wine glass, drinking temperature: 11 - 13 °C. As a non-alcoholic accompaniment to food, our WILD Grape Red is particularly recommended with poultry, hearty salads, pasta, cream cheese or dessert.
