Secret Orkney Single Malt Whisky - Exclusive Einherjer Single Cask Edition

The Orkney Islands form the northernmost whisky region in Scotland. Orkney whiskies are full-bodied and balanced and also have a distinctive salty and seaweed-like character. The high humidity slows down the ageing process, resulting in a more balanced maturation. There are only two whisky distilleries on the Orkneys, Highland Park and Scapa. Whisky cask #13, which we selected for the third release of our Einherjer Edition, was filled in 2009 and comes from one of these two distilleries. This single malt matured for over 13 years in a refill bourbon hogshead until we finally released it for you.

Whisky is beer with a distillation background - it is therefore not surprising that many brewers also have a soft spot for the distilled barley juice. In the Einherjer Edition, the brewers at the Wacken Brewery have put together a fine selection of first-class single malts bottled exclusively for the Wacken Brewery.

A whisky distilled and matured on the Orkney Islands fits our Einherjer Edition like a glove, as the archipelago was settled by Norwegian Vikings in the 8th and 9th centuries. Its inhabitants still feel connected to their Nordic ancestors today.

This Unnamed Single Malt from the Orkneys is deliberately not chill-filtered. To prevent excessive cloudiness, it has been adjusted to 46% vol. alcohol. The whisky therefore has a particularly intense taste.
